Race starts in 20.
Figured I should mention this just in case; in the unlikely event of a tie in points at the end of the season we’ll score it like F1 does and award the higher position to driver that has either won more races or has more higher-scoring finishes. For example, if me and RoboRed tie and we’ve both won two races and have two second-place finishes, he would finish ahead of me because he has more third-place finishes than I do.

I may be able to make it, we will see. No guarantees. But I can test with you guys if you are up for it.

Don’t think I’ll be on much before Saturday thanks to finals and stuff man. Running out of races.

I know the feel my finals are coming up fast as well. They are in 2 weeks.

I’ll definitely be at this race. Unless I actually do have something to do or there is another system update my xbox doesn’t want to do.

You won’t have anything to do.

Mine are tomorrow, the day after, and Saturday but at least they end before the race. We’re almost there man.

Doubtful I'll be there many finals studies required. Which stinks because I'll miss the next two weeks.

I always see these posts, and unfortunately have no way to join. I do have a question though: what do you mean when you say the lap time is a certain amount? How are the races run?
![]() 05/08/2015 at 19:11 |
|
Two things:
First, I noticed the cowl induction on my Chevelle doesn’t open up during races. So I should be awarded first place for every race since I’m not getting airflow.
Second, had to detune the hell out of the beast for this weeks race. Dropped over 20 hp, tuned more for speed as opposed to cornering, and dropped tire width as well.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 19:44 |
|
Instead of being limited strictly by a performance index number, we’re supposed to tune our cars to come as close to possible to the posted lap time without going over. This allows everyone to have a much closer racing experience rather than the better racers rocketing ahead of everyone while the poorer ones are left behind to be lapped several times.
It’s pretty much an honor’s system, but it’s worked pretty well so far. Races have been a lot more exciting than the last season.
Also, races are a set amount of laps (usually with the race being ~40 mins), and randomized starting grid.

Is this the last race of the season for T/A?
![]() 05/09/2015 at 00:14 |

Nope, got Road America and the Ring left after this. Just wanted to preemptively clarify the way we’d score the final results.

That makes sense. Cool!
![]() 05/09/2015 at 03:12 |

1) Must not be going fast enough
2) I purposefully dropped the lap time this week to get the faster cars to walk it back a bit. Of course that means we’re going to have to as well (we had a practice session last night and RoboRed was at A510 and I was at 520some) but it should decrease the speed differential across the field.

Man, you can’t free up like an hour?

Christ, I must suck at this game. To consistently hit the target I’m at S610. :/
It’s a new car though.

I will be here this week. Testing a new car to match the B-class Datsun. Working on getting the exhaust just right. :)

I saved the replay for this race, and I heard all the chatter during, so I’m sure you’ve heard enough on this, but I had a clear view of Josh and onepoints race. Josh didn’t make one clean pass the whole race, and nearly messed up the whole field in the first turn. Frankly, I would’ve punted him off the track to sacrifice my position just to prove a point. Dude should be DQ’ed from all Forza races and def this one. He’s just not about the spirit of what we’re doing.
Not tryin to be super serious about this but the guy was infuriating me the whole race. Let me know if you need me to send you the replay.

Actually I’ll just put the replay on my storefront

I’m glad to see someone else witness this. I’ll be looking forward to hearing svtylers opinion too once he has a chance to look over the replay. That was out of control, and I didn’t retaliate or do anything overly agressive, and 90% of the time I’d sacrifice the line I had won over him because I knew he was going to cut inside and use my car to keep his on track or give him the line because I knew he was going to clip my quarter. Not to mention the straight-away, where I had been drafting and built speed to pass him... I pull out on the right and am passing and he jerks the car to the right out in front of me to stop my pass and nearly cost me my race.
I don’t believe we’re trying to be overly serious, it’s just a super fine line that if people don’t respect it turns into a shit-show. Sportsmanship has kept this series friendly and competitive instead of frustrating.

If only I was talented enough to craft some terrible montage of crap that you’ll see in the replay. It would be ugly.

I watch most of every replay I have so I should be able to see everything that happened anyways. Besides I actually want to see how bad it was.

Yeah, and people make mistakes and go a little hot into a corner or something and make accidental hard contact, that’s totally understandable and they generally alter their gameplay from there on out. This was different. It became his M.O. and I had to play him accordingly.. i.e. adjusting my lines and passing zones because I knew he would put me off.. but also featured things as simple and unwritten as surrendering a line if someone legitimately beats you to it or has the angle.. I’m just bitching at this point, I know you’ll look through it and hopefully agree.

I’ll look tomorrow night once I get home from school and make a decision then.

Totally agree at this point. I thought about it and frankly don’t want to take part of everyone doesn’t play fair. An accident is an accident, but he knew exactly what he was doing. If I see him on track again, Im goin Rowdy Burns on his ass.

Keep in mind this is from a completely neutral, unbiased viewpoint:
1. His initial pass for first was complete bullshit and I agree with you there, but the reason you almost spun out was because you turned into him (note which way your tires are pointing):
2. (Lap 11) That pass on the front straight: he was angling towards the left side of the track and over-corrected his line to avoid going off-track, he didn’t purposefully turn into you. That being said he didn’t adjust his line at all after his over-correction so that’s completely on him.
3. (Lap 11) At the long, downhill left hairpin where you two made contact he locked up and slid at the same time that you began turning in. 50-50 on that one.
4. (Lap 13) Right before the chicanes leading onto the front straight was complete bullshit as well. Dude just doesn’t get that you can’t just divebomb corners like that.
5. (Lap 13) Same thing in the chicane.
6. (Lap 14) On the long right-hander after the chicane following the front straight you turned into him after getting a bit loose, which allowed him to get inside you on that turn. Dude was nearly off-track, not much more you could ask of him:
7. (Lap 14) The two times he hit your quarter after the hairpin was a combination of the both of you. The first time you made contact was when you cut in front of him while he was hanging out basically as far off-line as he could go while still being on-track. Could he have braked? Yes, but you had such a jump on him that getting off-throttle and adjusting your line would’ve avoided contact as well:
You cut across the front of him trying to get back on-track. Again he probably should’ve braked but he did his best to avoid you, almost getting stuck in the sticky grass:
8. (Lap 16) Divebombing you on the long uphill right-hander. His fault completely.
My replay cuts out after that point. Overall though I’m in agreement with you guys. He was way too aggressive and that kind of driving has no place in these series. On the other hand, from what I saw it was a lack of skill combined with being too over-ambitious, not maliciousness.
I’m in no way excusing this guy’s driving but at the same time it wasn’t as bad as it seemed in-race. I’ll let him know what we think and give him the benefit of the doubt for the next race but if it’s anything like this was he’s getting the boot. This was his first race in the series so he could turn it around this weekend.

See my reply to topsirloin below. Dude ran a dirty race but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. If he shows up this weekend we’ll keep him on a very short leash and anything like last week is grounds for being disallowed from any further races. And for what it’s worth that was Desu fucking everyone up in the first corner, not Josh. Apart from Tareim running into him (while simultaneously running into Desu) he actually avoided contact that whole time.

I gotchya. It’s your series, your rules. You’re far more generous than I would be, and that’s a commendable quality; however, if he pulls this stuff again and gets away with it, I think I’m out. A lot of the fun of this series is that you don’t have your typical D bags in the normal lobbies who will do anything to win. Everyone’s on a short leash and we take the time to tune our cars well for each race (he was running very fast considering his initial off) and we’re very considerate of one another. I don’t think he cares at all. He’s driven like this before. I think the fact that he had a mic the whole race and didn’t say a word when almost everyone was having issues with him is a pretty strong sign that he doesn’t care and will continue not to.
I hate to be serious about this because the series and club is in the spirit of a good time and having fun. The series is awesome and you took a lot of time to make it fair, competitive, and fun. That takes A LOT of time on your part: testing every single car, posting several times every week, tallying up the leaders, doing the test laps, etc. not to mention while having tons of school work and exams going on at the same time, and we all really appreciate that. You’ve made two awesome series.
The other reason it’s so fun is because it’s a good group of guys who play fair and respect each other. Josh doesn’t play fair, and I’m 100% sure his behavior in the next race will reveal that. He heard what all of us were saying and didn’t adjust his racing style whatsoever. I personally think he got a kick out of it.
If I see the same shenanigans next race, and if I have the opportunity to do it without messing anyone else up, I’m putting him in the wall just so everyone else can have a good race. Like I said before, Rowdy Burns all day.
Just out of curiosity, has he attempted to contact you at all?

Like I said, very short leash. I’ll let him know you you guys are feeling and tell him he’s basically one incident away from being kicked out. As far as I could tell he couldn’t hear you guys, he was talking over you in the lobby afterwards like he had you muted or you had him muted or something. Seemed apologetic in that I don’t think he realized we don’t drive like that but he hasn’t messaged me or anything like that.
I think a hallmark of this series is its accessibility and that includes not just PI adjustments and things like that but also being more lenient to less-experienced and knowledgeable racers. I mean, none of us drove immediately started driving online like we were Senna or something, it’s a process, and even over the course of these series I’ve noticed racing has gotten a lot better even among the top guys. For that reason I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt this time but only this time.

Thanks for taking a look through. Too bad you didn’t get the full replay. laps 18 and 19 each featured similar behavior, and the real kicker on 18 when I started swearing in race. If it didn’t seem as bad as we were making it sound in race and after, I guess we have different thresholds for what we consider inappropriate. I know you don’t want to be a mediator. You’ve already done a lot getting this series together and I appreciate that. That being said, I don’t understand why you’ve gone to the trouble to try and rationalize and make excuses for what is someone who has 1) done this before, 2) showed blatant disregard for this series, it’s rules and other competitors and 3) not made any attempt to clear things up. I wasn’t going to got nuts and run him off but I did what I had to do to not let his recklessness ruin my day. The non-contact aspect should show a great deal as well, for example the numerous times I had to surrender a line that all other drivers would have acknowledged I had grasp of, because I knew he wasn’t going to give it up, even if it meant him taking the inside and pushing me wide. The times he’s on the grass, its because he refused to give up a position that I had won. Everyone else would have fallen back in line and waited for their fair opportunity to regain that position.
Lack of skill is certainly contributing to it, and even giving this guy the benefit of the doubt in most situations, much of what was done was deliberate. I’m not going to make a big thing out of it, I just don’t think continuing to forgive these transgressions is going to make this thing that you’ve worked so hard for any better. If anything, it’s compromising it by continuing to allow it to happen. I really hate feeling like the person who takes games too seriously.
I won’t be there tomorrow because I’ll be out of town.. if he races, I’m pretty confident he’ll have forced your hand and won’t be there 2 weeks from now.

I’m not trying to rationalize or make excuses for anyone, I’m calling it as I see it, nothing more. And don’t think I’m forgiving it either, you can look through my comment history and find what I said to him: one more incident like last week and he’s out.
This was from what I can tell from his past comments his second online race ever, and what I saw fits that. As far as his line goes he says that he was holding it to be as predictable as possible which isn’t a bad idea necessarily, though I agree he was a bit stubborn at times. He also admitted in retrospect that he was being over-aggressive since he was so close to the front so at least he’s aware of it. I’m not going to excuse for all the times he divebombed you in the corners but (to me) it seemed like he was just trying to gain time, not that he was purposefully hitting you. End result is the same regardless, I know, again no excuses. Finally, his mic doesn’t work so he can’t exactly communicate in-race (though I admit he could text message you over XBL) so that’s why he didn’t apologize or anything.
I don’t mind being a mediator in situations like this. If anything I prefer because otherwise all you guys do would be to get pissed off at each other and argue about shit if I left it up to you. I wasn’t in your position so I can’t speak for what you experienced, but to me the replay showed an over-eager noob sniffing a podium finish and being a bit optimistic because of that. Am I wrong? It’s possible, but from an objective, neutral viewpoint that’s what I saw and what I believe happened. That’s the only reason I’m giving him a second chance, and he’ll prove next race whether he earned it or not.
